We had a lovely assembly about Christmas Wishes.
On November 13 students went to the Palace Theatre to see the muscal Young Frankenstein. The music was excellent and there were some very funny jokes.
Participating as an audience member is part of their work on the Arts Award
Students have been selling bracelets in school in memory of Darren F, a learning support assistant who worked at the school for many years and who died in September. Orange was Darren's favourite colour and money raised by the bracelets was donated to the Lancaster Lions Football Club.
Thank you to everyone who donated to Darren's bracelets. Together, we raised £152.30 which was counted by students in Southend Class this morning.
Lancaster School got 1st place in the Essex Special Schools Gala. The team were exceptional and were fantastic ambassadors of the school.
On Friday students went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Palace Theatre.
Southend Class had a great time on Friday at Southend Odeon watching the film Transformers One.
The group walked to the cinema and enjoyed sharing a film with their friends - a skill they could transfer to the evenings and weekends when they feel confident enough to do this.
On Friday we had a visit from Dan Hotten who talked to us about HARP - the local charity in Southend that helps the homeless. Students and staff brought in food to support the homeless. Thank you to everyone for your donations.
Well done to Amy for winning the kindness cup this week. She has been supporting her classmate Brenda to work with her on running the school beauty club that runs on Tuesday lunchtimes. Well Done Amy.
On Friday 20 September we will be supporting Jeans for Genes 2024 - students are encouraged to wear denim if they would like to and donate money either by bringing it to school or you can donate on our Just Giving page.

QR Scams are increasing - the National College has produced a guide for parents and educators to be alert.
Well Done to Ketandu who has won the Jack Petchey award for his amazing progress over the last 2 years.
We are really pleased with him and wish him well when he moves to Key Stage 5 in September.
